We are back at it with another Power Tools for Tableau demo video! If this is your first time checking out one of our demo videos, this is just one of many demonstrations we have been producing. You can see the other demo videos on Best Practice Analyzer, Data Source Audit tool and Power Tools: Deployment on our blog.

Power Tools: Desktop has been the main focus of our series thus far. Today, we’re going to take a closer look at Style Management. It’s one of our more popular tools, probably because of how much time this tool can save you. If you’ve ever spent too much time formatting and styling your workbooks before the production stage, then you’ll know what I’m talking about. In the demo video, you’ll see how the Style Management tool will dramatically speed up that process for you.

Color in the Lines

I don’t know about you, but I just don’t have the time to check every minute aspect manually in my workbooks. In the demo, I quickly point out some issues a dashboard has with color and font consistency. Fortunately, Style Management will not only find those instances where a format needs adjusting but also update your workbooks to those newly defined styles. You’ll no longer have to manually make those changes.

While working on one workbook with Style Management, you’ll be able to select all the other workbooks that you need to review as well. Whatever changes in the Style Guide screen you make will be processed across all your workbooks.

Don’t forget about your fonts! With the Text Formatting option, you can see what fonts are being used in specific categories, such as all dashboard and worksheet titles. Automatically, you can change all of your styles to whatever font you want. With the review button at the bottom, you can confirm this mass update across all your workbooks. All that’s left is to publish on Tableau Server.

What Are You Waiting For?

And that’s all there is to it! The Style Management tool really is that easy to use, efficient and is a huge time saver for you. Don’t just take my word for it though. You can download a free trial of Power Tools: Desktop here and get started styling your own workbooks instantly.

In the meantime, look out for our next demo video and feel free to contact us with any questions.

Until next time!
